Psalms 64

Prayer for Deliverance from Secret Enemies.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

1 Hear my voice, O God, in amy
Or concern
complaint;
cPreserve my life from dread of the enemy.
2Hide me from the dsecret counsel of evildoers,
From the tumult of ethose who do iniquity,
3Who fhave sharpened their tongue like a sword.
They gaimed bitter speech as their arrow,
4To hshoot
Lit in
from concealment at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and jdo not fear.
5They
Lit make firm
hold fast to themselves an evil purpose;
They
Lit tell of
talk of mlaying snares secretly;
They say, nWho can see them?”
6They
Or search out
devise injustices, saying,
“We are
Lit complete
ready with a well-conceived plot”;
For the
Or inward part
,
rinward thought and the heart of a man are
Or unsearchable
deep.

7But tGod
Or shot
will shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly
Or they were wounded; lit their wounds occurred
they will be wounded.
8So
Or they make their tongue a stumbling for themselves
they
Or made
will ymake him stumble;
zTheir own tongue is against them;
All who see them will aashake the head.
9Then all men
Or feared
will acfear,
And they
Or declared
will aedeclare the work of God,
And
Or considered
will consider
Lit His work
what He has done.
10The righteous man will be ahglad in the Lord and will aitake refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will glory.
